Wymondham Farmers’ Market will mark 20 years of trading on Saturday 21 March 2020.
Wymondham was the first town in Norfolk to have a Farmers’ Market, which was set up as a collaboration between Wymondham Town Council and the then Wymondham Development Partnership, to support local businesses and to encourage increased footfall into the town centre.
The third Saturday market continues to provide a wide range of locally produced goods, despite the challenges that are being faced by retailers in general and markets in particular.
Over the years the monthly event has been the backdrop to a number of community initiatives, including the promotion of St George’s Day (23 April) and National Apple Day (21 October).
It has provided the springboard for the launch of a number of successful businesses, including Masterchef finalist and macaron specialist Tim Kinnaird. Also, a cupcake maker and a chocolatier went on to open their own cafes.
Tim is offering a prize in a free draw for visitors to the Farmers’ Market on 21 March. No purchase is necessary,
The anniversary market will be celebrated with some musical input from by John Beckett and a cake made by Councillor Wednesday Batchelor will be shared amongst the traders.
The Farmers’ Market is open from 9.00am – 1.00pm.
