Elections - Postal votes

Posted 05/01/2021 : By: Trevor Gurney

We have today been advised of the following by the Electoral Services Department at South Norfolk Council

Elections in 2021

On Thursday 6 May 2021 residents in South Norfolk will go to the polls to have their say on who represents them at Norfolk County Council and as the Norfolk Police and Crime Commissioner. In a small number of parishes there may also be by-elections or Neighbourhood Planning Referendums.

The elections will take place at a time when Covid-19 continues to present risks to public health.  Depending on the infection rate, measures taken to control the spread of the virus may change as we approach May.  However, we are working on our plans to help ensure you can stay safe when casting your vote in May.

Due to the uncertainty of Covid-19, the Council is alerting residents to the possibility of voting by post, should they prefer, rather than visiting the polling station.  Application forms can be found using the links below:

Application forms are available here to download and complete: : Postal Vote https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/voting-person-post-or-proxy/voting-postProxy Vote https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/voting-person-post-or-proxy/voting-proxy

Residents need to be registered to vote in order to have a say at the elections.  Most residents should already be registered, however, if you have recently moved or not previously registered to vote, you will need to register.  To register to vote, please visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
