REMEMBRANCE DAY 2020
Posted 26/10/2020 : By: Trevor Gurney
Amid the pandemic, the traditional Remembrance Day parade through Wymondham will not take place this year. However, a small service will be held on the 11th November to mark the occasion. People are encouraged to instead to commemorate by holding a two minutes silence at home, therefore reducing the risk to the general public.
The Wymondham branch of the Royal British Legion will be running a 'Pop Up shop' having been kindly offered the use of Poppa John's barbers in Whartons Court in the centre of Town. Volunteers would usually be selling poppies across the Town during the annual fundraising campaign but due to the pandemic will not be seen in shops or on street corners this year. The shop will be open between 10am and 4pm every day until Saturday November 7th, except on Sundays. Branch personnel and volunteers will be on hand to provide the public with remembrance pins and poppies, with all donations gratefully accepted.
