Henry Hare Digital Trail

Hop Back In Time

See Wymondham's Market Place as it looked in medieval times, visit the tents and campfires of the Ketts Rebellion rebels, meet Wymondham man and rebel leader, Robert Kett and watch Wymondham Abbey construct and deconstruct through the ages!

These are just some of the stories on the unique 'Wymtrails' app. All you need to immerse yourself in these and other stories, is a smart phone or device. This free digital trail app will take you on a walk through Wymondham's past, bringing its rich and varied history to life through augmented and virtual reality visual experiences.

Other Wymondham stories will unfold on your route, including the Great Fire of 1615, the history of the Abbey through the ages, the grisly Victorian murders at nearby Stanfield Hall and plenty of opportunities for 'selfies' with all the main characters you encounter.

If you have younger members in your family, go to the sculpture of 'Henry the Hare' located near the Market Cross, point your smart phone at his plinth, watch him become an animation and lead your little ones on a virtual treasure hunt around the town.

Find Henry's long lost belongings that fell from his satchel and collect them in your virtual basket whilst answering a few quiz questions along the way. Henry's trail and the interpretation trail can both be run at the same time on the same device as they follow the same route.

The free 'Wymtrails' app can be downloaded onto any smart device, from either the App Store or Google Play. To find out all the details, including some exclusions, go to www.south-norfolk.gov.uk/wymtrails. Download the app before you go and check your data settings. Both trails start near the Market Cross in the Market Place.

The app also hosts a 'Discover the Town' section, that includes Places to Eat, Where to Shop, Things to Explore, Places to Stay and Local Events, to help you make the most of what else Wymondham and the surrounding area have to offer.
